All the Resource Centres (RCs) offer online information services to the users. The cloud based multi-location library management software, e-Granthalaya , of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) manages acquisition, processing and dissemination of information sources and offer numerous proactive services. Users get single window access on the NIFT website to the collections of print and digital information sources in all RCs across the NIFT centres through the integrated union catalogue of e-Granthalaya.
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
The Web based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) offers access to catalogues of print and non-print collections of all the Resource Centres . The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of each RC can also be accessed via the Internet and on LAN.
Access to e-Resources
Students and faculty of NIFT can access all the digital resources including subscribed databases, online periodicals and institutional repository on the Internet through the website of NIFT.
All RCs offer circulation service for selective collections of reading materials. Books are issued to students and faculty of NIFT. Please refer to the Student Rule Book at http://www.nift.ac.in/downloads/SRB_2012__FINAL__24-7-2012.pdf for the borrowing rules. Non-NIFTian members of RCs also avail of borrowing facilities. The bar-coded charging system in RCs ensure data accuracy and fast check-in & check-out at the circulation counter.
Current Awareness Service through Social media
RCs use popular social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc. to communicate with the users and update them regularly about developments in the fashion industry, new additions to the libraries and other information related to the Resource Centre.
Subject bibliographies on topics relevant to the fashion studies are provided online and also in print on demand.
Indexing and Abstracting Service to Fashion Periodicals
Valuable research tools for easy retrieval of journal literature on fashion and related areas in the NIFT library are the various abstracting services subscribed by NRC consortium. The library management software e-Granthalaya also provides access to the online periodicals index with abstracting services for the Indian fashion periodicals.
Highly qualified professional staff members answer reference queries both online and offline.
