National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT),a Premier Institute, nurtures the talented students through its holistic academic training programmes and transforms them into creative leaders in the fields of design, management and fashion technology.
Taking the inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi “SANITATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN INDEPENDENCE”, NIFT, Delhi Campus has launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 1st October, 2014 at NIFT Campus, Hauz Khas, New Delhi at 10.00 AM, where all the students, teaching fraternity and Officers / Staff took part in the drive and pledge for a cleaner and beautiful India.
Under the leadership of Secretary for Ministry of Textiles, Dr.S K Panda (IAS), Joint Secretary for Textiles, Ms.Sunaina Tomar (IAS), along with the DirectorGeneral of NIFT, Shri P.K.Gera (IAS) and senior Officials and faculty,the NIFT Delhi Campus participated in a lively event, where the dignitaries set an example to the young students, in a communal cleaning of the college campus. Dr. S.K.Panda administered a pledge to commit a minimum of 2 hours every week towards cleanliness of surroundings. He thereafter addressed the NIFT community, urging them to become more responsible and participative in this national effort. Shri P.K.Gera also had many words of inspiration for the future designers.
As a design institute, NIFT holds cleanliness, sustainability and environment issues close to its heart. The successful launch of the drive is only the beginning of a conscious movement towards grooming more sensitive and responsible young professionals.
