• Setting up of Incubation Centers in apparel manufacturing (SIAM)- Department of Industries, Government of Madhya Pradesh has got a sanction from Ministry of Textiles, Government of India to set up an “Apparel Incubation Project” at Gwalior , Madhya Pradesh under Scheme to set up Incubation Centres in Apparel Manufacturing (SIAM) of Ministry of Textiles , GoI The Apparel Incubation Project at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh will be implemented by IIDC, GoMP (Government of Madhya Pradesh) which would be built, operated and managed by IIDC, Gwalior (Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation - Gwalior). The incubation Center would have a three storey plug and play flatted factory, which would have three start-up business units of 100 machines per unit and a maximum of 3 incubatees. NIFT Bhopal is the “Knowledge Partner” in the project.
• The Incubation Centre would promote employment generation, entrepreneurship ventures and promotion of new design / business ideas . It would also allow the entrepreneurs to execute their ideas and deliver their products through a process that is operationally and financially viable. The aim of the project is to create an integrated workspace and linkages based entrepreneurial ecosystem for the start-ups.
• Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) Project - ‘Integrated Skill Development Scheme’ (ISDS), a flagship scheme of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India aims to provide training and subsequently placement work to unemployed persons. The scheme also aims to address the manpower requirements of the industry in Textile and Apparel sector.
• Under the ISD Scheme, the Ministry of Textiles had sanctioned a project to Department of Industries, Government of Madhya Pradesh with Madhya Pradesh LaghuUdyog Nigam Ltd. acting as an Implementing Agency. For the purpose of execution of the project, Department of Industries, Government of Madhya Pradesh had entrusted the task of undertaking assessments solely to NIFT Bhopal. The effectiveness of training provided is examined by the assessors of NIFT Bhopal. The assessment is carried out in an unbiased and professional manner and as per the assessment protocol as laid down by RSA (Textiles Committee,MoTGoI) . NIFT, Bhopal as an Assessment Agency has successfully assessed around 22,000 trainees so trained under ISD Scheme.
Training of Women Gond Artisan of Dindori District, Phase I
A training workshop was initiated and funded by Madhya Pradesh Mahila Vitta Evam Vikas Nigam under Tejaswini Rural women empowerment Programme for the Women Gond artisans of Dindori district with the technical support of NIFT Bhopal. The Department of Textile Design, NIFT formulated the research, analyzed the requirement, and designed syllabus for the 15 day training programme . This training was aimed to develop the range of products, especially women apparels decorated with motifs of Traditional Gond kalam, so that this languishing art can be preserved and the hard working artisans can get livelihood in turn to their enormous efforts of creating a saga of colorful and rhythmic song on surfaces. The idea behind this was to purely provide benefit to artisans and to make them self-dependent in terms of livelihood. While painted canvases are one time purchases, the range of apparels can easily secure their place in the closets of todays’ aesthetically educated customer. Keeping in mind, the 15 days workshop was planned and organized by NIFT, Bhopal at centre.
Advance Training with reference to Design and Product Development for Women Gond Artisan of Dindori District, Phase II
NIFT Bhopal provided a 06 days advance training to women Gond artisans for Design Development and Product Diversification leading to establish a range of Gond painted apparels/Fabric in Indian and global market. Methods of fabric painting over different surfaces- Cotton, Kosa and silk, different process parameter, introduction to new designs within Gond motifs while maintaining the authenticity of traditional Gond art with professional hand skill to be delivered to a group of 12 women artisans under Tejaswini Rural women empowerment Programme funded by Madhya Pradesh MahilaVittaEvamVikas Nigam. Project objective was to create such finished and aesthetically appealing prototypes of Gond hand painted textile- Apparel and Home Furnishing which may be placed in TRIBES India stores and in the craft bazars.
Pattern Making and Garment Construction Training of Rural Women of Tikamgarh&Chhatarpur District (M.P.)
Funded by Madhya Pradesh MahilaVittaVikas Nigam, NIFT Bhopal provided a 20 days training to women of Chhatarpur District to upgrade their skill in pattern making and garment construction. Basic Pattern development and industrial pattern making techniques and Understanding of different components of construction methods with prototype development was to be delivered to a group of 24 women. The objective of this rigorous training workshop is to provide livelihood to rural women of Chhatarpur and Tikamgarh district through Pattern making and garment manufacturing techniques with industrial sewing machine. This training modules familiarized the participants with industrial sewing machine, common and essential sewing skill. It educated them to use pattern making on unstitched fabric for apparels (different kurti, bodice block, crop top, different skirts etc.) which will ultimately enhance their designing skills and thus, would help them to construct their product financially viable and finally creating livelihood.
"Training of artisans on Computer Aided Designing for Textile Printing":
The objective of the project was to impart training to artisans in the field of textile printing in computer aided designing, of the designs and motifs that they are familiar with. The training also facilitated the artisans to create newer designs and motifs in less time and involving lesser effort by the use of digital designing skills. The project also aimed at training the artisans about faster sharing of their designs and motifs with their clients using digital technology and thereby reducing the business process cycle time. The training was imparted in modular formats to 20 selected artisans over a period of two weeks at NIFT Bhopal.
"Feasibility of restarting and modifying the existing dye houses and setting up new ones in the textile clusters of Sausar, Chanderi, Maheshwar and Sarangpur":
The project will aim at studying the feasibility of restarting the existing dye house at Sausar textile cluster that is presently non-functional. It also aims at studying the requirements for conversion of the existing functional dye house at Maheshwar textile cluster from wood fuel based to gas fuel based. It wil also study the feasibility of setting up a new dye house at Maheshwar.
The project will also study the problems of the existing dye house at Chanderi textile cluster and the feasibility of setting up a new one. It will also include the study of feasibility of the existing dye house at Sarangpur and if there is a positive feasibility, then also will study the requirements of an effluent treatment plant with the dye house.
