NIFT Hyderabad Celebrates Independence Day 2026
NIFT Hyderabad celebrated Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with a vibrant programme that brought together students, faculty and staff in a celebration of patriotism, cultural expression and community spirit.
The celebrations commenced at the Centre Circle with a Vandana dance performance, followed by the welcome address. The ceremonial flag hoisting and National Anthem were followed by an address by the Director, Professor Dr. Malini Divakala, who highlighted the significance of Independence Day and emphasised the values of unity, responsibility and nation-building.
The morning continued with an engaging Nukkad Naatak presented by the Learning & Development (L&D) Club), which conveyed a meaningful social message. Following the performances at the Centre Circle, participants moved to the auditorium for a series of cultural presentations, including classical and group dance performances, a drama by the L&D Club, and musical presentations featuring Vande Mataram and a band performance.
A Prize Distribution Ceremony was also held to recognise and celebrate student achievements. Ms. Shalmali Talele, Semester 7 student of the Textile Design Department at NIFT Hyderabad, was awarded the 1st Prize for her collection, Terrain in Transit, as part of a collaborative project between MyTrident and NIFT campuses. Certificates were also presented to event volunteers in recognition of their valuable contributions and participation in the celebrations.
The formal programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem, bringing the morning celebrations to a dignified close.
The spirit of the occasion continued beyond the formal ceremony with friendly Badminton and Cricket matches between students and faculty, fostering camaraderie, teamwork and healthy competition. The celebrations concluded with an afternoon movie screening, providing students and faculty an opportunity to come together and enjoy the occasion.
The Independence Day celebration at NIFT Hyderabad was a memorable blend of patriotism, cultural expression, recognition and community participation, reflecting the institution’s spirit of togetherness and pride in the nation.
