About Kangra Campus
Situated in picturesque Kangra Valley, overlooking beautiful Dhauladhar Himalayan Ranges, Kangra Centre started its journey in 2009, tracing the vision of NIFT. The centre was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister of Textiles, Mr. Shankar Singh Waghela and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal on 5th August 2009, which has started playing an important role in contributing to various segments of the textile, apparel, lifestyle accessories, and fashion communication industry. Having more than 1200 students already passed out with high merits and successful placements, NIFT-Kangra has provided a firm foundation for academics and overall learning. With the new infrastructure being acquired steadily, year by year, Kangra Campus will have world class facilities in the years to come.
Craft Cluster Initiative
NIFT Kangra has initiated interventions at several Craft Clusters, in Himachal Pradesh as well as in Punjab. Few prominent Craft Clusters are: Chamba Rumal and Chamba Leather Juti in Chamba, Kullu Shawls and Jewellery in Kullu, Phulkari in Amritsar, Durries in Amritsar and Wood inlay in Hoshiarpur. NIFT Kangra has thickened its relationship with the artisans from those clusters and promoting their products of Craft Bazaar and providing market awareness through Artisan Awareness Workshop, Crafts Based Design Projects and so on.
