DAY ONE
On 6th August 2021, A session was conducted by SDAC in which undergraduate students from both the batches of Foundationa Programme and students from Master in Fashion Management were elaborated about handlooms and their importance in our lives. We were honoured to have with us Centre director of NIFT Panchkula, Dr Amandeep Singh Grover and CAC NIFT Panchkula Dr. Vishu Arora for the commencement of the session. The session was followed up by a discussion with an expert Lecture, Ms Yashasvi.
She is a craft enthusiast, a design educator in multi-faceted design areas and a co-founder of ‘Gilahri handicrafts. Her Startup uses the principles of amalgamating handicrafts of India, providing eco-friendly reusable lifestyle products. She has been working closely for the sustenance and livelihood of Indian artisans.
Day Two
Today we have have access to several online shopping sites such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and others, where we can purchase worldwide brands such as Armani, H&M, and Zara with a single click, What are the requirements for acquiring a high-priced handloom garment that requires maintenance?
To discuss the the position of handloom in the present scenario, young minds of NIFT Panchkula gathered for a Debate. Through this debate a lot of new opinions enlightened minds and brought light to so many new ideas and thoughts.
Overall, both day sessions were quite informative, and the students had a great time engaging.
