Story behind the Craft

A folklore says that a fakir once approached a Khatri artisan and asked him to create something with his cloth. The artisan tied small knots in the fabric and dyed it. When opened, a beautiful pattern appeared. Delighted by the result, the fakir blessed the craft, saying its practitioners would be gifted happiness and prosperity.
