Story behind the Craft

Tussar silk is one of India’s traditional non-mulberry silks, with roots traced to the Indus Valley civilisation over 4,000 years ago. Produced from wild silkworms, it is known for its distinctive texture, natural sheen and earthy shades. Assam is among India’s important Tussar-producing regions, where the silk continues to support traditional weaving and textile practices.
