Story behind the Craft

Father Colombo, a Catholic priest, introduced lace-making as an occupational craft in Fathimanagar. He trained women from around 25 surrounding villages and helped establish bobbin lace as a source of livelihood. After his death, orders gradually declined, leaving many craftswomen without regular employment.
