Hupari's silver craft originated in 1904 when local artisans shifted from gold to silver, creating a renowned cottage industry. Craftsmen use fine silver alloyed with copper to hand-forge payals, brooches, and ornaments. Techniques involve wire drawing, press-stamping and blowtorch soldering.

Known as the "Silver City of India," the Hupari cluster near Kolhapur has practiced silversmithing since the 13th century. Boosted by royal patronage and a shift from gold to silver in 1904, it now holds a GI tag, supporting over 40,000 artisans across 2,500 home workshops.

Hupari's silver products focus on traditional rupyachi payal (anklets), ghungroos, and chains alongside peacock brooches, hairpins, and silver rakhis. Renowned for their durability and flexible links.
