The Craft

Dabu is a block-printed textile where patterns are stamped by wooden blocks using mud resist print techniques. The Dabu is an example of a resist printing style where the material is printed with a resist paste. The dye is absorbed only by the parts not covered by the resist paste.

Story behind the Craft

Dabu block printing is a traditional Rajasthani craft using wooden blocks, natural dyes, and a mud-resist paste. The mud protects parts of the fabric while the uncovered areas absorb the dye, creating earthy, intricate patterns. As the process is entirely handmade, each piece has subtle variations and soft edges, giving it a distinctive handcrafted character.
