National Institute of Fashion Technology was established in the year 1986 at New Delhi under the Aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. In the year 1995, when NIFT decided to spread its wing for the first time, Kolkata campus was one of the five Campuses. Our new campus was inaugurated on 19th March 2000.
The Programmes at NIFT are designed and structured in sync with the requirements of the Fashion Industry. Currently, from Kolkata Campus there are 236 students graduating in year 2018. Out of these, 47 students as Fashion Designers, 30 Knitwear Designers, 22 Leather Designers, 26 Textile Designers, 23 Fashion Technologists in Apparel Production, 28 Fashion Communication Designers, 30 Accessories Designers and 30 students as post graduate in Masters in Fashion Management.
