Ministry of Textiles vide their communication dated 22.12.2015 proposed NIFT Extension Centre Varanasi to be operational at IIHT, Chowkaghat, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). Extension Centre Varanasi established in May’2016. Objective to develop and run customized Short duration Continuing Education (CE) Programmes, Certificate and Diploma Programmes to boost up the existing textiles centre at Varanasi.

Ministry of Textiles has approved Rs. 6.00 Crores for setting up NIFT Extension Centre at Varanasi. The existing Extension Centre with total space of 15293 Sq. Ft. is located at Integrated Textiles Office Complex (IIHT premises), Chowkaghat, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh).

Total 160 students have been passed out from the Institute. The passed-out students have been well placed into various industries in and around Varanasi. Many of the weavers and entrepreneurs have also joined the training programmes with the objective of enhancing their knowledge and the skills in textiles sector.
