Ms. Tanu Kashyap

Senior IAS officer and currently Director General at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

Over nearly two decades in public service, I have navigated complex challenges across education, health, infrastructure, and rural development—guided not only by institutional priorities but by an inner compass rooted in integrity, clarity, and compassion.

At NIFT, I lead 19 campuses in reimagining design education—fostering innovation, sustainability, and industry relevance while holding space for creativity and inclusion. My mandate includes re-aligning NIFT’s institutional narrative to reflect its evolving role in leading India’s fashion and textile landscape, especially as it marks its 40th year. This is a moment of renewal—both for the institution and the sector it has long helped shape.

I believe deeply in the power of governance that is attuned, aware, and empathetic. Whether managing oxygen supply in a pandemic or drafting policy frameworks, my approach remains rooted in stillness, listening, and aligned action.

This journey is not just about serving the system—it is about serving the people with presence, from a place of quiet conviction.
