                                                                              Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav                                                                

NIFT Hyderabad had organised a two-day Acrylic Painting Works Competition for their students as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

The prestigious school of Fashion and Design education, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad had organised ‘Acrylic Works’ - a live painting competition from 11th to 12th March 2022 for students. The intra-campus competition has been organised as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and it was intended for encouraging their students to expand creative thinking and practice.

In this regard, an inaugural ceremony was conducted on 11th March 2022 at the campus and was graced by Shri Shashi Ranjan Kumar IAS Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Shri Shashi Ranjan Kumar encouraged the students to think about ways to reverse the negative impacts upon the bottom of the value chain, so that it can contribute to productivity and set equitable goals. In addition to this, NIFT Hyderabad Director Shri Vijay Kumar Mantri IAS spoke about the importance of the present competition, its goal and also about the process of creating artworks by the artist as being an observable performance.

 The competition was held for a total of 30 students (10 groups) who had taken part in this live programme. The competition venue was chosen to be the corridors of the NIFT award-winning building that was designed by renowned architect Shri Sanjay Mohe.

Each team was provided with Artist Canvas and Acrylic paints and were asked to conceive original artwork based on the theme ‘Fashion, Art and Design within the stipulated time period. The competition consisted of two rounds of scrutiny. The first round involved screening of portfolios of interested students and the second round involved the evaluation process by a jury and by student vote. The evaluation weightage of the Jury is 60% and 40% is from the student poll.

A panel of jury consisting of international reputed cartoonist Shankar Pamarthi of Sakshi Newspaper, Mr. A.M. Murali artist, Educator and Mr. Pavan artist, educator evaluated the final artworks. The winning teams were awarded attractive cash prizes of Rs.20,000/-, Rs. 15,000/- and Rs. 7,500/- respectively.

The final outcomes of the competition were 10 beautiful artworks with the diverse theme of fashion, art and Design. The event has been jointly coordinated by faculties Prof. Satya Prakash and Prof Ramakrishna K with support from the newly appointed NIFT Hyderabad cultural club secretary Mr Adarsh Tripathi semester 6 student of the Fashion Communication along with other student volunteers
