Gandhinagar CampusDr Vandita Seth is a Professor of Fashion Design and specializes in the area of fashion apparel and Indian textile history and traditional crafts. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students of various design and technology disciplines. She has over 30 years of experience teaching talented fashion design and technology students. Her experience spans academic administration as she held the prestigious post of Chairperson of the Fashion Design Department at NIFT from January 2024 to May 2025. She has served in several key leadership and coordinator roles, including Campus Coordinator of the Fashion Design Department and International linkages coordinator at NIFT Gandhinagar Campus. Her work is also recognized as an Internal Design consultant and Cluster Initiative Coordinator for the NIFT Gandhinagar SGSY Cluster.
Prof Seth's research interest focus on connecting India's rich textile and craft heritage with contemporary fashion education and design innovation. A significant area of her work is community based design with craft artisans and clusters. Aiming to create new opportunities and livelihoods and ensuring that craft practices remain relevant for future generations.
Through design projects she encourages students to engage with traditional knowledge while developing contemporary, relevant and sustainable design solutions. Her papers match her real design work. Each study reflects a real-world design project.
