Gandhinagar CampusDr. Japjee Kaur Kohli is an Associate Professor in Fashion Design, bringing together fashion education, research, artistic practice, and academic leadership. She has been serving as Campus Coordinator, Foundation Studies Program, since January 2024, and previously served as Campus Coordinator, Fashion Design Department, from January 2021 to December 2023. She is UGC-NET qualified in Home Science and Management, reflecting her interdisciplinary expertise.
Dr. Japjee Kaur’s teaching portfolio encompasses both traditional and contemporary dimensions of fashion. Her teaching areas include Couture Design, Bespoke Menswear, Sustainable and Artisanal Fashion, Surface Ornamentation, Retail and Couture Markets, Craft Studies, Fabric Fundamentals, Lifestyle Fashion Products, Fashion Entrepreneurship and Marketing, Research Methods, and Statistical Analysis.
She has participated in national and international conferences and has published research papers, book chapters, and articles in renowned international magazines. She was selected for the IFFTI Faculty Exchange Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, in 2019.
She has undertaken government-supported training projects for training women in tailoring and patchwork, contributing to skill development and livelihood opportunities.
Her creative practice focuses on 3-D texture art for contemporary home artefacts, exploring texture, material, and form through conventional and unconventional materials. Her work brings together textile art, mixed media, and contemporary craft, extending her creative practice beyond conventional fashion applications.
