Mr. Amit Phogat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Technology at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar. He specializes in textile and apparel production, manufacturing technology and industrial automation, with over 19 years of academic and industrial experience.

His research and professional interests includes process improvement, industrial automation, emerging manufacturing technologies, and Internet of Things. He has guided undergraduate and postgraduate graduation projects in process improvement, quality management, textile recycling, and traceability. He received the Best Research Project Award during his master’s degree for his work on energy conservation in apparel manufacturing.

He has also contributed to industry-sponsored protective work-wear development projects and actively contributes to various skill-development initiatives. He has conducted multiple Gujarat State Government-sponsored workshops focused on skill development for the apparel manufacturing industry. Previously, he served as a project coordinator for three years on an MHRD initiative supporting the integration of persons with disabilities into mainstream technical and vocational education.
