Gandhinagar CampusProf. Dr. Sameer Sood is the Director of NIFT Gandhinagar, with over 21 years of professional and academic experience in fashion, textiles, and apparel. His areas of expertise include product development, fashion merchandising, apparel exports, social compliance, and sustainability. He holds a PhD in Social Compliance Procedures for Apparel Export in India, an MBA in Public Policy and Management from MDI Gurgaon, and a Post-Graduation in Fashion Technology from NIFT.
His research interests focus on sustainability, social compliance, circularity, and innovation in the textile and apparel sector. He contributes to research through publications in reputed journals and presentations at international conferences. He leads and contributes to projects under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, including the NIFT-ETIDI Twinning Arrangement for capacity building in Ethiopia’s textile and apparel sector. He also serves on the National Working Group Task Force for Circular Transition Guidelines in the Textile Industry.
Dr. Sood actively promotes sustainable and responsible fashion through academic, industry, and outreach initiatives. He serves on the Boards of Gujarat State Handloom & Handicraft Corporation Ltd. and Gujarat Rajya Khadi Gramodyog Board and is a member of CII’s National Committee on Design Innovation. He also curates initiatives that connect traditional knowledge, innovation, and sustainability with contemporary fashion education.
