Dr. Javid, is a higher education professional with over 14 years of experience. He joined NIFT Srinagar as its Director on 4th June 2020. Before this, Dr. Javid, one of the founding members, significantly contributed to establishing the Central University of Kashmir (CUK). He has a PG & Ph.D. from the University of Kashmir, where he was also a UGC-CSIR fellow. He has also pursued PG Diploma in Educational Management & Administration from IGNOU, New Delhi, and a Course on Adaptive Leadership from Acumen Academy. He has attended a Leadership & Management Development program conducted by UK-India Education & Research Initiative (UKIERI) in 2016. In 2019, Dr. Javid was awarded a bursary by the Association of Common Wealth Universities for attending a conference and study tour in London, the UK, which included a visit to the prestigious Imperial College of London. At NIFT Srinagar, Dr. Javid aims to develop a conducive environment for quality teaching and research and push it into the league of leading fashion schools. His goal is to position NIFT Srinagar as an institute of choice for the young aspiring student community interested in joining the fashion and textile sector. He is also keen to connect local crafts and textile industry with the NIFT Srinagar under the scheme of the Craft Cluster Initiative.
