Costume Collection

The collections of cultural resources in the Resource Centre at Delhi have no parallel at NIFT in terms of richness and diversity. The RC showcases designer clothing as well as regional costumes of India and other countries. Access to this section is restricted to the bonafide students, faculty and members of the Resource Centre. Photography of the items in the collections restricted.

Graduation Collection

Works of alumni of NIFT Delhi, now leading designers, J. J. Valaya, Manish Arora, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Gitanjali Kashyap, Sunita Shankar and many others can be seen here.

International Collection

International collections in NIFT Delhi RC include costumes of various countries sourced in the past. Samples from eminent international fashion houses such as YSL, Chanel, Armani, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and many others are also used as teaching aid.

Regional Costumes

RC Delhi has pieces of clothing representing traditional styles of each cultural region of India.. The vibrant colours of costumes of the tribal communities of Rajsathan and Gujarat; the sublime sophistication of Lukhnavi Chikan embroidery and richness of South Indian silk are all part of the repertoire of the Resource Centre of NIFT Delhi. The online catalogue of RC provides detailed documentation of each piece of costume in its collection. The image repository of the same is currently under construction.

Other Garments

Garments created as part of the projects such as North_East ….., HHEC, DSYN and others undertaken by NIFT in collaboration with other Govt./Autonomous bodies also form part of the collections of RC.
