Adeep A.K., a Textile Design, Semester VI student from NIFT Chennai, was invited to participate in Zero 1 mission, organised by American Art Incubation India, in partnership with Kochi Biennale Foundation and Sacred Heart College, Thevara. The Zero 1 mission project, through a series of educational workshops and sound art based practices, aimed at depicting gender equality through smart textile art installations. For the purpose, 16 well-established art professionals were divided into four teams to develop prototypes based on their respective concepts. The team, headed by Adeep, was awarded a sum of 16 lakh rupees to actualize their project, ‘AXIA’, after careful evaluation by a distinguished jury. Based on the premise that, in an equal society, the opinions of every section are valued, the project aimed to collect data from a random sample of various genders, to visualize the same in an interesting way. Out of all the 16 participants, Adeep won a 15-days trip to the United States and was awarded the Fulbright scholarship for further studies as well!
