NIFT, Bhopal organized a design collection show “Dharohar–elements of inheritance” and Saree Draping Workshop at “Adventure Next 2018”, on 04th December, 2018 at Ashoka Lake View, Bhopal. “Adventure Next 2018” was a three day international event of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board which was attended by around 100 foreign delegates from United States, China, Japan, Korea and from various other countries.
The design collection Show “Dharohar –elements of inheritance” had the following 3 rounds. The 22 designs so displayed in each round were contemporary in nature, made mainly out of from “art and crafts heritage of Madhya Pradesh” like Chanderi, Maheshwari, Bamboo, Bagh Print, Zardozi and so on.
Round 1 - Kirmiji (The Crimson Beauty)
The world famous textile of Madhya Pradesh known for its sheer elegance and luxurious texture and inspired from rich and cultural heritage of Madhya Pradesh like Bhimbetka.,Taj-ul-masajid, Maheshwar fort, burhanpur fort etcwas showcased in `Kirmiji` a Sanskrit word meaning red which was the central part of this colourful exhibit of design. This round had alluring tints and shade of red used along with indigo blue which gave a graceful appearance.
Round 2 - Dhaaryitri (The Earth – Eternal peace)
The `Dhaaryitri` round focused on the various fabrics, techniques and art forms native to `Madhya Pradesh` which is rightly called as the heart of incredible India. The collection designed was inspired from the tribes, textiles, architecture and historical places of the state like fort of Maheshwar, Mandu, Malamandir, Sanchistupas, Bhimbetka, Bheraghat, Tajul Masjid, Sheesh Mahal, Man Mandirpalace ,Malamandir.
Round -3 Aranya – (Bamboo – a symbol of Prosperity)
Third round of creation ‘Aranya’ focused on the 7 types of Bamboo Fabrics’ that showcased the tribal life, their apparels and accessories. The collection showcased an inspirational assimilation of Digital Printing technology with traditional motifs of different tribal states with bamboo accessories like Corsets, Neck pieces, Floral Bands, lioras Shoes, Waist Bands and Bandanas made up of Bamboo sticks and Bamboo Fabrics.
In addition to “Dharohar–elements of inheritance”, NIFT Bhopal also organized a Saree Draping Workshop in the aforesaid event from 3rd Dec. to 5th Dec,2018.In the aforesaid workshop, different fashionable ways of draping various types of sarees from the very beginning till the last pinning was demonstrated. Individual guidance was given throughout the workshop period. It included saree draping for different events whether formal, casual or for special occasions .
