The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Unit serves as a central resource to support the identification, protection, and management of Intellectual Property generated by the NIFT community. It plays a vital role in fostering innovation by guiding faculty, students, researchers, and collaborators on ownership rights, and commercialization pathways.
The IPR Unit promotes a culture of innovation and encourages students to treat their creations as valuable intellectual assets. With a robust IP assessment mechanism by IP Assessment Committee (IPAC), the unit ensures each creation is fairly evaluated for protection and commercialization potential. The creations broadly include inventions, designs, copyrightable works, software, multimedia, theses, and other creative innovations that have the potential to be protected.
