National Institute of Fashion Technology announces a call for research articles for the fourth volume of the 'NIFT Journal of Fashion'. Each volume of the annual peer reviewed open access research journal has a definite theme of wide-ranging significance on different aspects of fashion with critical thinking on multiple perspectives of relevance to the wider academia and fashion industry.

Theme: Fashion in Transition: The Confluence of Handmade and Technology

The theme ‘Fashion in Transition: The Confluence of Handmade and Technology’ investigates the dynamic interplay between craftsmanship and leading-edge technology. The evolving trends in fashion highlight the co-existence of both handcrafted techniques and technological advancements for an enriching experience. We welcome articles that reflect on the synergy between the two diverse approaches and the impact on the fashion industry from design innovation, sustainable practices to production, commerce and consumer experience. The contributions can address (but are not limited to) one or more of the following sub-themes:

  • Redefining design process through integration of craft and technology
  • Blending traditional craftsmanship and technology for a sustainable future
  • Digital technology for preservation of crafts
  • Supporting craft practices through technology
  • Integrating craft and technology in fashion education

The research article, complete in all respects and formatted according to the author guidelines should be submitted via email at editor.njf@nift.ac.in by 30th September 2024.
