Dr. Ruchi Kholiya serves as an Assistant Professor at NIFT, where she joined in 2021, and holds the profile of Center Coordinator for the Fashion Design Department. With over 16 years of professional experience in academics, she specializes in teaching textile sciences, traditional embroideries and surface ornamentation, pattern making, draping, and material studies. She earned her Doctorate degree in Clothing & Textiles from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology in 2009. Earlier in her academic journey, she received the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi (2004–2006) and cleared the UGC NET in 2005.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kholiya received numerous accolades. She was awarded the Young Scientist Award (2009) by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) and the Dr. (Mrs.) Saroj Kashyap Gold Medal (2010) by Indira Chakravarty College of Home Science, C.C.S.H.A.U., Hisar, Haryana. Her dedication to teaching earned her the “Best Teacher Award” for two consecutive academic years, 2010–11 and 2011–12, from the Galaxy Global Group of Institutions, Haryana. An active researcher, Dr. Kholiya has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed publications and four book chapters. Additionally, her patent on “Isolation of Malu fibers and development of a novel blended fabric from Malu-viscose” was published in 2017.
