Ms. Shweta Joon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Textile Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur. Her areas of expertise include traditional textiles, surface and print design, craft, design processes, portfolio development, and design thinking. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from NIFT Bengaluru and a Master’s degree in Fashion Management (MFM) from NIFT Gandhinagar. She has more than 10 years of experience. Before joining NIFT in 2022, she had teaching experience and gained extensive industry experience in export, retail, and buying houses. Her professional experience integrates industry practices with academic and design education.

Her academic approach draws on her combined experience in the textile and fashion industry and higher education, with an emphasis on connecting practical industry knowledge with creative and design-led learning. She received the NIFT Best Academic Performance Award in 2019 during her Master of Fashion Management (MFM) programme at NIFT Gandhinagar. In the same year, she also received the Gold Medal for the NIFT Meritorious Student Award in recognition of her academic performance. In 2025, she contributed to the design of the Rajasthan Royals IPL 2025 jersey.
