Under the G20 presidency of India, NIFT Gandhinagar campus curate India’s first-ever grand fashion Showcase named as ‘VASHUDHAJAN’ as part of the G20 Finance Ministers' meet on 16th July 2023. The said event was presided by the Hon’ble Finance Minister Shri Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and attended by various dignitaries such as Shri Ajay Banga, World Bank President, Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, Finance Ministers of G20 Countries, Central Bank Governors of G20 Countries, Policy Makers etc.
The event theme was on the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi “One Earth, One Family and Having One Future”, and to take forward the India-led global mass movement "Mission LiFE", embodying a 'people to planet' approach, fostering mindfulness and reverence for our planet, and uniting global communities towards a sustainable future.
Great Sages of Ancient India have taught us that Panch Tatva: Kshiti (Earth), Jal (Water), Pawak (Fire), Gagan (Sky), and Sameer (Wind) are essential five eternal elements for the creation and sustenance of all life derived from Mission LiFE. The talented faculties and students of Gandhinagar Campus worked meticulously to carve this event along with the Celebrity designers such as Ms. Ritu Beri, Ms. Anju Modi & Ms. Payal Jain to showcase journey of our country's heritage, culture, and crafts diversity through five eternal element Kshiti (Earth), Jal (Water), Pawak (Fire), Gagan (Sky), and Sameer (Wind).
A limited edition Look Book which is a compendium of crafts of India with focus on Gujarat region, its techniques, processes etc. which has been adopted for design collection show on the ramp under G 20 event was also unveiled by the Hon’ble Finance Minister Shri Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governor, Reserve Bank of India. This Look Book is also amalgamation of crafts, fabric, samples, write-ups on crafts of India and would also have a QR code for referring to detailed processes of the ensembles so showcased.
